Hong Kong CPAs in action |

In May 2008, Sichuan province was struck by a massive earthquake that took away many lives and caused extensive damage. To help the victims ease their immediate pain and to support longer-term disaster relief work, The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants immediately started a dollar-for-dollar fund-raising campaign among its members and staff.
Wanting to do more, the Institute also embarked on another fund-raising campaign by organising a special sale of its publication, The May Moon Money-Wise Box Set, which was earlier created under its "Rich Kid, Poor Kid" social responsibility programme to teach children money skills and to provide parents with tips about helping their children learn to become financially responsible. All proceeds of the book sale went to its Sichuan relief funds. The Hong Kong Institute of CPAs eventually raised HK$2.5 million in total and gave HK$1 million to SCMP Homes for Hope in June this year to support the home building projects for earthquake victims. |
